About me

Hi there, I am Sam Toxopeus! I'm a software engineer from Alkmaar (The Netherlands) with a heart that beats for technology. Having been interested in making websites and mods for the games I played since I was a kid, a natural step for me was to get a degree in Software Engineering. I am most comfortable deep in the backend of an application, I prefer designing solutions and architectures instead of websites :P. In terms of code my language of choice usually boils down to Java or C#, but I am also very proficient in Python and often use C for working with hardware.

But it's not only code that I am passionate about, a big hobby for me is tinkering with microcontrollers and other hardware. That's how I created my very own bluetooth speaker and in-house climate sensor, including custom designed and 3D-printed casings! I am also a big Linux fan, which has been my primary OS since my 18th. Originally a Fedora user, I later switched to Arch Linux and that's where I stayed ever since. Paired with this I enjoy working with servers and other infrastructure too and have been administering my own servers for quite a while, usually running on something like Debian.

In the grand scheme of things I'm just someone who loves to solve puzzles, whether they're in code or in life. And I strongly believe this is done best with a like-minded team behind you, trust each others expertise to move forward.
